Features:
The Abec 11 Stone Ground FreeRides are a 70mm wheel offered in three urethane durometers: 78a, 81a, and 84a, featuring a 35mm contact-patch and an offset core suggested for freeriding, slide jammming, and cruising.
Points Of Interest:
During our riding of this wheel we focused our attention on three main features: the Stone-ground finish, Range of urethane options, & Overall shape.
Findings:
1. Stone Ground: We felt like the stone ground finish of this wheel definitely increased slideability right out of the packaging.
2. Range of urethane options: While the broad range of urethane options allowed for learning and testing-out new slides at slower speeds with the softer Blue or Amber thane, at the same time it provided confident freeriding at higher-speeds when skating the Pink 78a formula.
3. Overall shape: Lastly, we really enjoyed the shape of this wheel—the offset core matched with the rounded lip and 70mm sizing add up to massive sliding, while still providing grip when ya really need it.
