The Testing:
In order to test Arbor Skateboards’ “Prodigy” downhill skateboard deck we gripped, and also ripped, down a Malibu favorite.
Features:
Arbor’s “Prodigy” is a 9-ply, 38” long, symmetrical DH/freeride board featuring drop, drop cups, flares, a subtle W, rocker and also two layers of fiberglass for added stiffness.
Pros:
The combination of this board’s purposeful contours results in a downhill deck with unpresidented performance and comfort. Our favorite thing about this board was the increased foot-cupping provided by the slight drop and waist-flares while still allowing for leveraging over the trucks and wheels.
Cons:
If you are looking for a lightweight downhill option, this may not be your best bet.
Overall:
The Arbor “Prodigy” is a super fun freeride board with a multitude of performance features. This deck’s well thought out design provides added control and leverage at speed, while still allowing for that locked-in feeling appreciated by the avid freerider throwing out slide after slide.
