The Wild Boar is 37” long , 10” wide, and is a 9 plys maple top-mount deck with minimal taper from nose-to-tail. It is designed with both flush mounting and CNC wheel-wells and it is Anthony Flis’ recently released downhill pro model.
The Testing:
For our testing of Comet’s new Wild Boar, we shredded one of the best hills Southern California has to offer.
Pros:
The Wild Boar is a respectively “short “ downhill deck, with an ample width and mellow contours & concave. All of which—combined with the lowering effect of the flush-mounts and the 1 inch of wheelbase variability—create a deck that excels in most any hill-bombing scenario.
Cons:
Although there was nothing really wrong with Anthony Flis’ new Wild Boar deck, it might be cool to see this board offered with some grab rails (similar to the ones in Comet’s Ethos lineup), so as to take off a bit of weight, and also increase hand-grip when reaching for the rail in a tight situation.
Overall:
We like the simplicity of this deck, and, to put it simply, it’s a real fun board for bombing hills.
