Testing the Hawgs “Street Hawgs:
For our testing of this wheel we hit our local streets and found some grimy new spots to give these wheels a go.
Features:
The Street Hawgs by Hawgs Wheels come in three sizes: 57mm, 62mm, 67mm. They also come in up to three different durometes. For our testing we skated all three sizes in the yellow, 82a durometer. These wheels feature a minimal core & shape and Hawgs proprietary urethane formula.
Pros:
After riding all three sizes of this wheel, and on a rage of terrain, we found that we really enjoyed the slide characteristcs and roll-speed of this wheel’s minimalist design—a combination which makes them perfect for cruising around town, hitting the streets, as well as shralping down hills and alleyways.
Cons:
We tried pretty hard to come up with something we think these wheels could improve upon, but with all honesty we love the way they ride. That said, it would be cool to see these wheels come on more color choices for this specific durometer.
Overall:
Overall, the 82 a Steet Hawgs provide a broad range of possibility. From street and ditch shredding to downhill and freeride ripping, these wheels are fun for a whole wide world of skateboarding shenanigans. The urethane has an amazingly predicatble slide and wears less than many wheels in this category. With the exception of high-speed racing, these wheels are a quality choice for mashing most anything, and as you can see in this video, they have quickly become a Wheelbase favorite.
