With the official press release dropping today, the skateboard world can finally welcome the board manufacturer, Prism Skate Co. This company was founded out of pure ingenuity and a desire to provide a quality product that pushes the limit of what is traditionally accepted. Prism is jointly owned by long time skater Max Myers as well as Caliber Truck Co., a company that has been delivering top notch skate gear to our community over the past few years. This combination of skater oriented individuals is the perfect group to tackle a project that is rooted deep in skate culture and contains a deep renowned for where we as skaters have come from as a guide for where we are going.
Having a skateboard company that is Skater Owned and Operated is a big part of this project and all parties involved take great pride in protecting this claim. Max’s pure motives behind this movement are expressed best in a statement included in the press release: “I couldn’t be happier to launch Prism Skateboards. You grow up with a certain admiration and respect for the guys that launch these skater-run companies, and now I get to do that myself and build something that reflects my vision and love for skateboarding.” Part of his vision for skateboarding includes offering boards that span the current spectrum of board design as well as continue to push the mold literally and figuratively in whats possible. Plans for the line up currently hold designs ranging from cruisers to longboards with full intentions on offering performance downhill models as well. All completes will come set up stock with Caliber Trucks.
Prism has officially announced two team riders, Cooper Darquea and Quentin Gachot, but also has plans on adding some more big name riders in the up coming months. With a solid foundation already laid, the future looks very bright for this young but poised company. Brandon Stewart, co-owner of Caliber, knows the key to success rides on his new company’s ability to innovate the products that they will be bringing to market and he has great confidence in their ability to accomplish this. ”Max is one of the most talented board designers we know, to have his insight and product knowledge is going to be the foundation of Prism’s success.” Look for Prism’s boards to be hitting all the finer skateboard retailers later on this year but until then learn more about this new venture by hitting up their website as well as following them on Instagram as well as Facebook.
Keep your eyes peeled for some big things to come from Prism but until then we leave you with a few parting words from Max:
“Yo Wheelbase! Thanks for reaching out, we’re stoked to launch Prism Skate Co. The most exciting parts are still to come and we look forward to announcing the rest of the team riders along with Quentin and Coop. This is obviously a childhood dream come true, so I appreciate all the support. Keep it up at Wheelbase! Love what you guys do.”
The only reason we are able to do what we do is because of efforts like this one, so make sure you get out and get behind this newly developing movement that is 100% for skaters, by skaters.
