In a few days I’m taking off to Australia and South Africa. I did a lot of international travel when I was younger, but not that much for skateboarding other than to Canada and the Dominican Republic. For me, one of the raddest things about skateboarding is getting to meet and shred will all sorts of different people—different areas have different styles, different local heroes the groms look up to and what not.
So I couldn’t be more stoked to travel to the east coast of Australia; film a video, skate with all the local homies, and hopefully hit some events. From what I see, Australia has been going off recently, from boarder cross series, to standup-only races—killing it! Not to mention most every video I see from out there features some serious talent.
After Australia, I then fly over to Cape Town, South Africa to hit an event called Landslide, which sounds like a sick freeride where everyone gets together and jams a hill filled with driveways and other features. Honestly, I hadn’t heard as much in terms of a downhill scene from South African, but once I booked my tickets and did a little research I found dope videos of races, slide jams, and local kids ripping it; that got me super fired-up on going there!
I don’t think there is any better way to say “welcome to the team” than hooking me up with a couple of plane tickets to fly around the world. I really can’t thank everyone at Arbor enough for supporting me and helping with this epic trip. I couldn’t be more stoked to be a pro team rider and part of the Arbor family. Sick media is on the way!
Also, if you live in Australia or South Africa and wanna shred or say what’s up, here is my general itinerary:
Australia: February 22nd - 5th of March.
South Africa: March 6th - 17th of March.
