Good news for all you racers out there with your name on this not-so-long list: You get to register for Pikes Peak Downhill right now! Registration for “priority riders” is now open via the IDF website. If your name is not on the list, you’re just gonna have to wait until June 7th to claim your spot.
The following text (grabbed from the IDF event page) will shed some light on the race:
On September 6th and 7th 2014, the world’s fastest skateboarders return to the infamous Pikes Peak highway, the world’s highest toll road at 14,125′ elevation, and home of the legendary Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. The Hillclimb, also known as the Race to the Clouds, has operated for nearly 100 years, famously competing on dirt and gravel for decades. In 2011, the highway was paved all the way to the top, opening up the fastest, and most challenging sections, to downhill for the first time.
Beginning at an elevation of over 11,000 feet, racers will compete over 1.4 miles of sweeping turns, steep drops, and banked hairpin corners. With top speeds expected to reach 60+ mph, the Pikes Peak Downhill course will be one of the most highly anticipated stops on the International Downhill Federation schedule.
