We are bummed that we were unable to make it out to this epic push race. We’re hoping next time around we can pull it off. From what our friends Jack Smith, Jeff Vyain, and Maribeth McHugh tell us, it was an event not soon to be forgotten.
After the 188 miles and three days of pushing on skateboards, one rider was clearly out front—that skater was Rayne team rider Paul Kent, infamous for the Long Treks on Skate Decks series. He took 1st place in the 188 mile Chief Ladiga Silver Comet Sk8 Challange. Paul averaged 15 mph on days 1 and 2, and over 17 mph on day 3. Damn that’s some serious pushing! Our man Paul was closely followed by Bustin Boards shredder, and 2nd place finisher, Jeff Vyain.
The ladies held it down as well with Cami Best taking 1st and Maribeth McHugh taking 2nd.
Reminiscent of that curious turtle with the Tootsie Roll Pop, I’m just wondering how many kicks (licks) it takes to skate 188 miles? Hell, I know it ain’t three! Ha ha! The world may never know.
All in all, it is super awesome to see skateboarding growing in so many unique ways and to see the growing number of dedicated riders stepping up, getting involved, and push shit further and further.
Congratulations to all involved. Keep pushing it!
