Is it political activism? No. Is it an effort to increase awareness for a cause? No. Is it a pride parade? No—Well, sort of—But no. It’s none of these things. It’s just skateboarding.
On a particular day in October, somewhere in the numbers of 1,500-2,000 skateboarders made their way down Manhattan’s busiest thoroughfare because skateboarding. The Broadway Bomb has been a recurring spectacle for nearly a decade and has grown from a small group of a dozen or so “attendees” to become the impressive display that you see here. It’s a long and challenging ride, but the feelings of stoke and skateboard-unity keep everyone rolling. It was also pretty neat to run in to #MileyCyrus and her #TwerkTeam just outside of SoHo.
