Let this serve as a reminder to you that skateboarding, despite being considered a “sport” by some and a “crime” by others, is (at it’s roots) the perfect example of self-expression. Takahashi Suzuki clearly has some thoughts on where skateboarding could be headed, and (conveniently enough for our eyes) we happen to agree! Skateboarding is evolving. And its evolution is not just related to the length of the board or the speed at which you’re throwing out a backslide powerslide. It’s a broadening and maturing of skateboarding’s creative range. The era of tricks for points and a 2x multiplier for a combo is on the way out (though it should have been gone long ago) and is being replaced with the ideas of movers and shakers like Takahashi. Rather than say what you’re about, which style of riding excites you and whether or not you prefer to keep things simple, just hop on your board and let the skating do the talking.
