The Abec 11 Amber Flashbacks is a 70mm side-set, freeride-oriented wheel and is available in a single hardness of 81a.
The Testing:
In order to test the Abec 11 “Amber Flashbacks“ we slid and spun our way around the hills of Upper Manhattan.
Pros:
The combination of this wheel’s offset core and sturdy lips makes them a slide machine. Our favorite thing about the “Amber Flashbacks” is that the 81a urethane peels away nicely on the pavement and makes for smooth transitions in and out of slides.
Cons:
If you are looking for a wheel to grip a hairpin or dominate a cones course, this may not be your best bet. They’re gonna slide! Since they’re offset, this wheel can also stick out quite a bit from the deck if you ride wide trucks to begin with. Watch your toes!
Overall:
The Abec 11 “Amber Flashback” is a groovy wheel with the right amount of slip for even some more technical maneuvers. This shape has been around for quite a few years already and in combination with this urethane, we see it staying around for many more to come.
