The Road Rider “Shred Mags” is a 73mm, slightly offset race wheel, with a 59mm contact patch, and featuring Road Rider’s exclusive high rebound 78a formula as well as a massive 40mm x 37mm Mag Core.
The Testing:
In order to test the Road Rider “Shred Mags” we hit some runs on a familiar Socal favorite.
Pros:
The larger core adds to the performance by supporting the wheel and maintaining it’s shape under serious high speed and weight loads. This helps both maintain exit speed, and straight-line acceleration. The offset race shape and urethane compound also combines to create a predictable breakaway point for controlled slides.
Cons:
We like options, so although this wheel performs great, it could be cool to see it offered in more sizes and durometers.
Overall:
The Road Rider “Shred Mags” are designed purposefully and they work well for hauling balls and railing corners. As we said, the big core gives them a sturdy backbone to maintain exit speed and straight-line acceleration. The urethane compound of these wheels allows for a quality slide with the confidence of predictability.
