Our latest Weekly Wrap-Up for July 4 through July 10, 2024 is here. Please enjoy.
As you may have noticed, last week our opening pic featured a poser/model girl—there’s a lot of that on the internet and it’s pretty silly. This week however, our opening image it’s of Vicki Vickers and she’s an OG ripper. Anyway, we want to see more women shredding hard in all types of skateboarding. That said, let’s start things off with a rad video featuring women honestly stoked on skateboarding.
Apparently, there is a lot of buzz/hoopla going on about pump tracks right now. As mentioned last week, there’s a new asphalt pump track for bikes and skateboards that recently opened (here’s a video) in Williamsburg, NYC . Also, legendary vert skater, Andy Macdonald, is backing a Kickstarter campaign for a Skateboard Supercross series. It’s also worth mentioning that Any Mac and his affiliates currently have a huge wooden pump track built and they are shredding it hard. Looks fun, but will it actually catch on?
Downhill skateboarding has most definitely caught on, and as it gains in popularity across the entire world, “Johnny Law” and his cronies are running and grabbing their proverbial pitchforks, torches, and nooses and beginning to wage an assault on our freedoms and liberty. As skateboarders, this type of attack is nothing new, but the facts of the matter remain very real, and we need to get educated, activated, and be prepared. The Santa Barbara skateboarding community is currently in the trenches dealing with such issues. Issues resulting from more and more skaters hitting the hills. A ban in the area for a few SB hills has been passed, but the dialogue continues. . . Here’s a video discussing the ban.
Speaking of skateboarding downhills, did ya see the latest Tactics video? Or maybe the news
In more of a flatground type vein/scenario/locale, the dudes at Otang continue to release killer trip tips videos. This week’s trick is called a “Hurricane” which is already a trick that exists—it’s a grind. That said, this trick looks super fun and we want to learn it. Thanks, Sam Holding of the UK!
In EVENT NEWS, Central Mass 6 is coming in hot!!!! We have our tickets book—do you? Get registered now and get rad with us on August 7th through the 9th, 2015!
The Pikes Peak Downhill race is scheduled for Sept 12 & 13, 2015 this year. Here’s the details and a video about that.
Also, there’s something that’s been brewing in Texas for a while now and word has it that the 8th annual Patriot Race and it’s partner event the Extreme Buttboard race is going to go off this year in Austin, Texas on the September 5 & 6th Labor Day weekend. Anybody ever heard of something called the Brobomb? More on all that soon.
