Who’s ready to go fast, hit coping, carve asphalt, and/or pop a curb-cut booster? If you said yes to any of these questions then your weekend is sure to be hype as hell! Speaking of hype, here’s our latest Wheelbase Weekly Wrap-Up for May 23th - May 29th, 2015.
First off we have this rad and raw edit published by Gullwing Truck Co and featuring our back-east brethren, Jared Henry and titled: Diabetes Kandy. Peep it. Also, here’s another awesome video coming from one of Gullwing’s English riders, Craig Questions. Craig recently teamed up with Light Box Films and Levis Skateboarding to produce this sick video straight from the fringes of skateboarding. It features his abstract take on what it means to be a real skateboarder. Don’t sleep on this one.
While we’re on the subject of trucks, Bear Trucks has just launched a really rad edit starring Billy Bones and featuring the history, techniques, and characters behind Bear Trucks’ thorough research & development program. If you are like the Insane Clown Posse, and—similar to the their interest in magnets—you wanna “how the fuck do they work”, then this R&D video will help you wrap your head around the science of making quality skateboard trucks for all types of shredding.
Jack Boston and the Caliber crew continue to drop the dope-ass Grade B-Sides edits. This latest video features the coolest dude ever, Tyler Howell, ripping some rad runs in the Mexican mountains after the MLF race last year. Tyler Howell throws down in this edit. Enjoy!
Last but not least in this week’s video news, If you missed the rad the Sk8 Trip Distribution edit by (Abec 11 & Jet Skateboards) featuring Jim Gray & Avery Crowl then click that link. Why? Because skateboarding is fun and so is this video.

In rider news/gossip, we heard Chance Gaul has not been skateboarding in a while now, and has been strictly surfing the waves as of late. Stoked to hear he’s been getting pitted, but that kid rips and we hope his stoke for shredding get’s rekindled soon. We also just got a call that Eric Jensen is gonna be in SoCal for a few weeks starting June 1st and is working on some new video and photo project to drop. That sounds like the goods! Our homegirl and lengthboard ripper, Cindy Zhou is moving to Portland, OR to work at Adidas (Cindy, Bandy says size 11 is his fav). Anyway, the Loaded Boards & Skate Invaders put together this rad edit to send her off with a kaplow!

In event news, this just in from Jordan Huotari of Rip City Skate in Portland, Oregon:
June 21st, July 25th, and September 5th are the 3 dates of our Switchbacks Series presented by JP Rowan and PDXdownhill, hosted by Rip City Skate. Registration is now open at PDXdownhill.com. They’ll most definitely be a BBQ and skate jam back at the shop after the 1st and 3rd event, but the 2nd event is the day before the Mt Tabor Race that Billy Bones is putting on sponsored by Landyachtz, Hawgs, & Bear. Cathlamet is Aug 21st, 22nd and 23rd sponsored by Caliber. We are going to do a Friday night street contest on the slalom hill after everyone starts drinking and the street lights turn on, cash entry and winner take all.
Here’s our Wheel to the Base specific updates: Ali Mehraban just launched his latest Lurk Patrol column. It has a rad video in it and a rad message overall. Peep it. Also, three new and very rad articles are to be dropping next week on our site. The excitement heightens and the stoke submarine’s So(g)nar is bloop-blooping hella hard right now! Stay tuned and have a rad shred-weekend.
