It’s Official: Laguna Beach Bans Downhill Skateboarding.
Yep, the brilliant bureaucrats of Laguna Beach, CA have unanimously agreed to ban skateboarding on eight roads, all skateboarding at nighttime, and institute a speed-limit of 25MpH throughout. If you’re wondering if this will be inforced, the answer is a big YES, and it will be done very diligently—the cops in Laguna are very thorough.

We at Wheelbase are super bummed to hear of this ban, but not surprised. Skateboarding has been a mainstay in our culture for a very long time now—this cannot be disputed, yet while every other surrounding city has at least one skate park for it’s local residents, Laguna Beach has none (zero). So when we heard that this ban was instituted, and that no designated area for these skaters to ride was agreed upon in any realistic way, we can’t help buy wonder what this town’s vendetta is against skateboarding? We have our ideas, but we’ll let you decide for yourself.
