Video: Catalina Classic Skateboard Race, 1977.

| January 24, 2025 | Comments (0)

Check out this sick video of the 1977 Catalina Classic Downhill Skateboard Race. Definitely some epic short-shorts, sweet tube socks, and radical downhill action of yesteryear; all going down on some small-ass skateboards.

Rumor has it that certain “powers that be” within our industry are working, as we speak, to revive the Catalina Classic Race for 2012. Is it true? Time will tell. When we hear more, you’ll hear more.

Addendum (1/25/12): Mr. Jack Smith of TSJ hit us up to reminded us that there was in fact a slalom-only race held on Catalina in 2002 under the original event moniker. Here’s the link to that video as well: Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle—yeah!

Talk soon—enjoy!

A big thanks goes out to the ever-epic Mr. Geoff “Shredwell” Treadwell of the Sunset Sliders for the original find.
