Board Review: Bustin Boards “EQ 36″
The EQ 36 is a 36.5″ top-mount freeride board and a new addition to Bustin Boards‘ growing line of performance skateboards. The EQ 36 is 10” at it’s widest point and features 9/16” concave, ½” rocker, and a ½” radial drop—making for a 26” effective foot platform. The EQ 36 offers a 29 ½” wheelbase, symmetrical shaping, and is constructed of a slightly flexing, yet solid, 9-ply Canadian maple.
The Testing:
In keeping with the spirit of Bustin Boards urban roots, we decided to test Bustin’s EQ 36 in and around the streets of our home of Long Beach, California.
Results/Findings:
Pros:
The radial drops of the EQ 36 combined with the rocker and concave provide for a solid, locked-in feeling when freeriding. The long wheelbase relative to the small standing-platform adds extra stability when rotationing slides at high speeds. We liked the slight flex yet solidity of the construction.
Cons:
The small standing platform combined with the longer wheelbase makes speed-checks more difficult to whip back, and in some applications may not be ideal for larger riders. The width of the board, while not excessive, requires some foot movement to transition between heelside and toeside.
Overall: the EQ 36 is a solid, comfortable freeride deck. While not a board we would recommend for straight-up downhill; the rocker, concave, and drops combine for an amazing, locked-in, freeride experience. The small standing platform relative to the wheelbase provides for added stability when doing full rotations, but slightly reduced dexterity when attempting to manhandle the board for speed checks.

Is the bustin eq a good board for someone about 5″7?
Sure. It’s a rad board for freeriding and all-around hill shredding. If you are looking to do downhill bombing strictly, you should also look at traditional top mounts. It’s all personal preference really. We hope this helps. Stay rollin!
Jon are you a original rider?
is the concave as deep as boards like the comet voodoo or the vugenhausen?
Pretty much similar. The micro drops make it feel even more so.
