The Testing:
In order to test the Caliber Forty-Four trucks, we took them out to a local favorite—a spot with fast straights, and some tight corners—and it proved to be a location ideal for thrashing the trucks and see what they were made of.
Results/Findings:
Pros: Firstly, we really enjoyed the stability of the lower sitting 44 degree geometry of the Caliber Forty-Four trucks. We also enjoyed the Forty-Four’s sturdy construction—we felt that its robust construction provide for added confidence while riding at faster speeds. The added length of the axle, which allows the rider to fully thread their wheel on, also added to our confidence while riding fast. we also appreciated that the Caliber Forty-Four comes standard with double barrel bushings.
Cons: The Caliber 44s are more bulky and less responsive at slower speeds than something like a Paris (or Caliber) 50 degree truck. That said, the Caliber 44 is meant for faster speeds and their added weight and stability can thus be regarded as a positive when going fast.
Overall: We found the Caliber Forty-Four to be a great choice for the serious speedboarder. Although it is not our first choice for mellower, freeriding or cruising applications, we definitely had a great time going fast on them and recommend the sturdy and low sitting Caliber Forty-Four trucks to any skater interested in serious performance at speed.
