Slide Glove Review: Sector 9 “Driver”
Check out our latest Wheelbase Product Review for the Sector 9 “Driver” Slide Glove:
Sector 9’s Driver Slide Gloves are a performance, leather slide glove and a new addition to Sector 9’s growing line of performance downhill-skateboarding products. The new Driver comes in two colors colors: a black & a brown; as well as two sizes: a Sm/Med & a Lrg/Xl. The Driver comes will supple and perforated leather upper, specially placed and adjusted seams throughout, Sector 9’s Ergo Puck shaped for added performance, reinforced leather thumbs, as well as seamless glove bottom and finger tips.
Testing:
In order to test these gloves, we slapped them on at a number of different sessions: We hit some tight corners, steep descents, as well as some back roads and gnarly banks—we definitely rode fast and pushed these gloves hard.
Results/ Findings:
Pros: We really liked the ergo shape of the Driver’s pucks; they really provided for a more confident slide on rough and cracked surfaces. We also liked the flexible yet protective leather used to construct these gloves. And we also liked the sleek and streamline fit of the Driver, which was much better than many of the more baggy feeling gloves we’ve used in the past.
Cons: On one of many heavy slams we ended up taking during our testing, we ended up wearing through one of the fingers of one of the gloves, so we’d like to maybe see another layer of leather used on the inside of the fingertips for those of us who crash a lot.
Overall: Sector 9’s Driver Slide Gloves are a quality performance slide glove with a great fit and balanced hand protection. The leather construction combined with the forward-thinking puck-design provided for confidence while sliding over a diverse range of terrain. We really had some fun using these gloves and we suggest Sector 9’s Driver to any skater looking for a glove with a perfect fit, smooth styling, and quality protection.

If your skating for longer periods of time, especially during the summer, the dye from the leather likes to stain your hands. Not sure why but it’s happened a few times with multiple pairs, probably sweat to much… Also the pucks have cracked right in half mid-slide. They have tons of decent sized air pockets inside the middle, not sure if that would contribute to the overall strength of the puck, but I personally can’t see it helping. Besides that overall decent gloves.
interesting feedback. We did not have that issue, but we have hear about it from another rider. Definitely did not see any issues with the pucks. Anyway, thanks for the Shredlove!
